The Kremlin said that it was ready to start work on improving ties with the United States after the conclusion of a U.S. investigation into collusion between Donald Trump and Russia in the 2016 election.

But the Kremlin said that it was up to Washington to make the first move. Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet publicly commented on the Mueller report’s findings but many Russian lawmakers welcomed the findings.

U.S. Attorney General William Barr said in a summary released on Sunday that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had found no evidence in his investigation of collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.

The Mueller report is one of the most explosive investigations in modern U.S. history.
Trump tweeted that the report’s conclusions were a “total exoneration” of him.

But in a letter to key members of Congress on Sunday, Attorney General Barr noted that while Mueller’s report “does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.”
