No damage or casualties reported in 4.3 earthquake in Piacenza, Italy

An earthquake has been felt by the population in the province of Piacenza, Italy.

According to the INGV survey, the earthquake, which occurred at 18:41, had a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was in the Gropparello area at a depth of 28 kilometers.

The earthquake was followed by two others of lesser intensity: one of magnitude 2.6 at 18:51 and one of magnitude 2.1 at 19:32

At the moment there is no news of damage to things or people.  The first checks do not seem to show that there was any damage to buildings or injured people. The earthquake was felt especially on the upper floors of the buildings. Speaking to Italian News Agency ANSA, the director of the Emilia-Romagna Civil Protection Agency Maurizio Mainetti, said “We are in contact with the mayors of the affected Municipalities and at the moment there are no reports of obvious damage or problems to people”.
