Norway to re-open primary schools as from next week

Norway’s government has yesterday evening announced the re-opening of schools and published the related guidance on the implementation of this process. Schools will re-open next Monday, 27th April.

The guidance includes a checklist for infection control including how to support handwashing and reduce contact between people.

The Norwegian Government instructed educators to “Plan outdoor activities at different times for different groups,” while still instructing schools to “limit physical meeting and possibly arrange for video conferencing.”

The first four years of primary schooling will return to their benches on Monday. The Nordic country follows Denmark, which re-opened schools last week. Neighbouring Sweden has not closed schools during the pandemic.

Nurseries in Norway have re-opened this week, much to he concern of many parents, so much so that in a poll by local broadcaster NRK found that a quarter of parents were not ready to send their little ones back to pre-school as yet.
