Two dead, 30 injured as Frecciarossa high-speed train derails along Milan – Bologna line

A Frecciarossa high-speed train, which departed from Milan, derailed this morning at 5.35 am at Ospedaletto Lodigiano (Lodi) along the Milan-Bologna line.

On site there are dozens of emergency vehicles of firefighters and 118. The causes of the accident are under investigation.

At the moment, the rescuers speak of two dead persons – the train driver – while another person is missing. The Civil Protection, rushed to the scene, speaks of 30 wounded, none of them serious: 28 in green code and two in yellow code. The accident would have involved the first two cars of the high-speed train.

From 5.30 the circulation on the Milan-Bologna high-speed line is suspended. All trains, in both directions, were routed on the conventional Milan-Piacenza line. The delays, explains the Italian railway network, are up to 60 minutes per hour.
