An Acehnese man faces public caning punishment in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, 08 March 2021. Four couples received a caning punishment of 10 to 20 lashes for breaking sharia law and having sex outside marriage. Aceh is the only province in Indonesia that has implemented Sharia law and considers lesbian, gay, bisexual relationships and sex outside of marriage as Sharia law violations.
