In the wake of suspended air connections to and from abroad, the Polish government in cooperation with the state flag carrier LOT Airlines are organising special charter flights to various regions of the world to bring Polish citizens home, under the banner Flight Back Home (#LotDoDomu).

POLANDIn reports that ll Poles who want to return to the country, as well as authorised foreigners who are permanently associated with Poland will be able to book a flight via www.lot.com or www.lotdodomu.com

“So far, 12,000 people have expressed their desire to return home by registering on the PLL LOT website. The first planes have already arrived in Poland from the US and London on Sunday,” said the head of the Prime Minister’s office Michał Dworczyk.

In an interview with the private TV channel TVN24, the Deputy FM Marcin Przydacz said that this number is growing and is not final.

“Every hour we receive information about thousands of Poles ready to return and wanting to return to the country from abroad,” he said, adding that currently 18,000 people are waiting to return. According to Mr Przydacz, the scale of operations is gigantic. The deputy minister said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will prioritise regions which pose the most difficulty in entering the country.
