Singer Justin Bieber reveals he has Lyme disease

Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber has revealed he has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. The symptoms often include a rash, muscle pain, and tiredness.

In a long message on his Instagram account, the Canadian singer, 25, told his 124 million followers that it had been “a rough couple of years” – but vowed to be “back better than ever”.

The star said he was aware of social media speculation that he had a drug problem, after he was pictured looking unwell with blotches on his skin.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by ticks.

Bieber is not the first singer to reveal he has the disease. Avril Lavigne, who rose to fame with the single Complicated in 2002, spent several years away from the music scene because of it.
