Spain defeat England to win Euro 2024

England’s 58-year quest for glory ended in heartbreak as they fell to Spain in the Euro 2024 final at Berlin’s Olympiastadion.

Gareth Southgate’s squad was defeated by Mikel Oyarzabal’s late goal, marking England’s second consecutive European Championship final loss and prolonging their wait for a major men’s team victory.

Spain took the lead two minutes after halftime when young star wingers combined, with Lamine Yamal setting up Nico Williams to beat England keeper Jordan Pickford with a powerful low shot.

England captain Harry Kane, struggling once again, was substituted after 60 minutes. Cole Palmer, who replaced Kobbie Mainoo, sparked hope with a composed left-foot strike in the 73rd minute.

However, Spain secured the win four minutes from time as Oyarzabal converted Marc Cucurella’s cross, leaving England heartbroken once more.
