Tourists Arrivals in Italy Rose 9.3% in August

Tourist arrivals in Italy increased by 9.3% in the first half of August compared with the same period last year, the Interior Ministry said Wednesday.

Between Aug. 1 and Aug. 18, more than 15.5 million visitors were registered, up from 14.3 million during the same stretch in 2024, according to ministry data.

The figures are drawn from the Interior Ministry’s “Alloggiati Web” database, which records guest registrations at hotels and other accommodations. The system, managed by the State Police, requires operators to submit guest information to local police within 24 hours of arrival.

The ministry reported 15,663,336 arrivals in the period, including 7,332,808 Italian visitors and 8,330,528 foreign visitors. In 2024, those figures stood at 6,791,760 and 7,540,698, respectively.
