UK: Body recovered at Grimsby Docks identified to be that of missing student Libby Squire

A body recovered from close to Grimsby Docks in the Humber Estuary is that of missing student Libby Squire, Humberside Police has said.

Sky News reports that Detective Superintendent Martin Smalley confirmed that the woman’s body recovered on Wednesday afternoon had been identified.

“Libby’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specially trained officers. We would ask their privacy is please respected at this incredibly distressing time”, he added

The Guardian reports that the last known sighting of the University of Hull philosophy student, 21, originally from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, was just after midnight on Friday 1 February at the junction of Beverley Road and Haworth Street in Hull following a night out.

Last week, marking six weeks since she went missing, video footage of the smiling student singing along in a car with her family was released as they said they miss her “beyond belief”.
