A pregnant woman was saved from a sex trafficker, by a cab driver, after he was asked to drive her to a brothel in Coventry.
Sky News reports that Tahir Mehmood called 999 after the distraught Romanian woman burst into tears in his cab – and he is now in line for a commendation from police after his actions prevented her being forced into the sex trade.
“The unnamed woman, who was three months pregnant, came to Britain in February 2018 after answering an advert offering UK work as a masseuse. But she was held hostage in a London brothel before being shepherded to Coventry, where she was forced to pose in lingerie for photos being posted on sex industry websites”, the report adds.
The cab driver, a father of two, called the police after she explained she was being forced into prostitution. Officers arrived at the scene and spoke to the taxi driver before taking the woman to a police station.
