UK Health minister diagnosed with Coronavirus

Health minister and Conservative MP Nadine Dorries says she has been diagnosed with coronavirus.

She is the first MP in the UK to be diagnosed with COVID-19, as the virus spread further on Tuesday.

Ms Dorries, the minister in charge of patient safety, said in a statement: “I can confirm I have tested positive for coronavirus.

“As soon as I was informed I took all the advised precautions and have been self-isolating at home.

The identity of the individual who infected her is unknown. Focus will now fall on tracking down and testing the potentially hundreds of people Dorries will have been in contact with in the past week, both in parliament and at the health department.
