July 5 (Reuters) – British new car registrations fell 24% in June, according to preliminary industry data released on Tuesday.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said year-to-date registrations fell by around 12% to about 800,000 units, delivering the second weakest first half of a year since 1992, as ongoing challenges in the supply of components hamper the industry’s ability to fulfil demand.

The SMMT will provide the final figures for the month at 0800 GMT.
