Uruguayan presidential elections to go to second round run-off

The candidate of the official Frente Amplio (FA), Daniel Martinez, and opposition National Party (PN) candidate Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou, will compete for the Presidency of Uruguay in a second round.

According to the recent polls with two thirds of votes counted, Martinez, gained 39.9 percent of the vote, and Pou obtained 29 percent of the vote, with neither candidate reaching the 50 percent majority needed to avoid a run-off.
