William and Catherine say they are ‘deeply concerned’ in first statement on Epstein revelations

The Prince and Princess of Wales have said they are “deeply concerned” by the latest revelations surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, marking their first public statement on the ongoing scandal.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson said Prince William and Princess Catherine remain “focused on the victims” following the release of new documents in the US related to the late sex offender.

The statement comes amid further allegations against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, which have intensified scrutiny of the former prince. “I can confirm The Prince and Princess have been deeply concerned by the continuing revelations. Their thoughts remain focused on the victims,” the spokesperson added.

Although brief and without direct mention of Epstein, Andrew, or his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson—who has also faced renewed questions—the statement is seen as a significant acknowledgment of the issue.

It was issued as Prince William prepares for a high-profile official visit to Saudi Arabia, a trip regarded as diplomatically important. Royal aides are conscious that media attention on Epstein continues to cast a spotlight on the Royal Family.

The statement is likely intended to signal awareness and concern while allowing focus to shift to official duties, though it is unlikely to quell ongoing questions over the handling of the Andrew scandal.

King Charles also faced public scrutiny on Monday during a visit to Clitheroe train station in Lancashire, when a member of the crowd shouted, “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein?” as he greeted attendees.
