On Sunday the funeral Julen Roselló was held.
The first autopsy results on the body of Julen, a two-year-old toddler who fell into a 100-metre deep borehole on January 13, revealed that the boy suffered multiple injuries due to the fall, reported EFE.
The body of Julen Roselló presents a “severe traumatic brain injury” and “polytraumatisms compatible with the fall”, according to the preliminary report of the autopsy, as EL MUNDO has confirmed. The body of the boy, who was found dead at dawn on Saturday in the narrow well of Cerro de la Corona (Totalán, Malaga), which he had jumped on last January 13, died the same day of the fall, according to research sources.
“The position of the body determines that it was a fast free-fall, to 71 meters, which is where he was found.” Those were the words on Saturday morning of the central government delegate in Andalusia, Alfonso Rodríguez Gómez de Celis, as he explained to reporters the facts of the last phase of the mission to try and rescue Julen Roselló, the two-year-old who fell into a borehole in Totalán, in southern Spain, on January 13, and whose body was finally recovered in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Gomez de Celis later told reporters, adding that an investigation was underway to determine any “potential liabilities” in the two-year-old’s death.
Gómez de Celis explained that the regional government covered up the rescue shaft last night with a 600-kilo steel cover, and that the plan is to fill in both the original well that Julen fell into, as well as the parallel tunnel that the rescuers excavated in a bid to reach the child.
A hearse arrived at the mountain site shortly after the news broke to take his body to a funeral home, with psychologists at the side of Julen’s parents.
“All of Spain feels the infinite sadness of Julen’s family. We have followed closely every step to reach him,” Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez wrote on Twitter, where the news was a trending topic.
An autopsy of the boy was carried out and an investigation into the circumstances of his fall into the unmarked, illegally-dug well — one of many in Andalusia — will be carried out by an investigating judge.
