Protests in Tel Aviv and Haifa for Hostage Release

Reports of scuffles between protesters and Israeli police in Tel Aviv as thousands demand the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. Additionally, a small US military vessel and a dock area were found on a beach near Ashdod, close to the US-built pier used for humanitarian aid to Palestine. Protesters in Tel Aviv carried photos of abducted female soldiers and called for the government to reach a deal for their release.

Seven people were arrested at the protest late Saturday and at least one person was injured, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported. Protests also took place elsewhere around the country, including in the port city of Haifa, the paper wrote.

The march was led by Einav Zangauker, whose son Matan is held in Gaza; Eyal Eshel, whose daughter, Roni, was killed in Hamas’ attack; and Eli Marciano, whose daughter Noa was killed and her body returned to Israel from Gaza.
