China and Russia have reaffirmed their commitment to closer coordination and stronger ties, aiming to support each other’s development while enhancing global security and stability. This agreement was reached during the 19th round of the China-Russia strategic security consultation, co-chaired by Wang Yi, head of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Sergei Shoigu, Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council.
This meeting marked their second encounter in two months, following a prior meeting in September in St. Petersburg. Wang Yi emphasized the importance of China and Russia standing together amid increasing global complexities and external pressures, highlighting the need for solidarity to safeguard their shared interests.
Wang reiterated Beijing’s willingness to maintain close communication with Moscow, boost multilateral cooperation, and support the high-level growth of their bilateral relations. He also noted that this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, with their presidents having met three times already this year.
Both countries have deepened political trust and expanded pragmatic cooperation, contributing to greater unity among Global South nations, according to Wang.
