Trains, planes, Rome bus, metro to strike on Friday

Trains and planes across Italy will stop and Rome be hit by a bus, metro and trash collection strike on what has been dubbed ‘Black Friday’ , unions confirmed.

Rome will be particularly badly hit as there will also be a general strike by public sector workers on Friday, including at the city’s waste disposal company Ama.

Alitalia has already cancelled 240 flights. British budget airline Easyjet said it is “expecting a number of cancellations and potential delays” due to the Italian strike, but it has not released details of flights affected. It advises passengers to track their flight status using the Easyjet app.

Commuter trains will run in the ‘guaranteed hours’ of 06:00-09:00 and 18:00-21:00.
