Alitalia’s board agreed to a bid from Ferrovie dello Stato

Alitalia’s extraordinary commissioners have agreed to a bid for the troubled airline from Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) rail company, sources said Tuesday.

ANSA says that FS, the sources said, has received a letter from the commissioners saying their bid “has been positively evaluated” by the commissioners, “having heard from the relevant minister”.

FS CEO Gianfranco Battisti said earlier in the day FS was talking to “many operators including EasyJet” on Alitalia. “We are seeing great attention towards FS’s planning capacity,” he said.

We will soon be able to announce something concrete,” he said. Battisti added: “we have made our offer and are ready to go, we are awaiting the industry ministry”.

He said the business plan would be put off till January.
