Anxiety in Romania as Dinamo Bucarest manager suffers heart attack

There were moments of anxiety during the weekend’s football game between Dinamo Bucarest and Universitatea Craiova after Eugen Neagoe, Dinamo Bucarest’s manager suffered a heart attack mid-way during the game.

The 51-year-old became unwell in the 25th minute in the Liga 1 fixture in the National Arena in which his team eventually lost 2-0.

He was given a bottle of water and could be seen breathing heavily on the sidelines shortly before he fainted and was immediately rushed to Bucharest’s Floreasca Hospital.

Neagoe, who only joined the Liga 1 side in June, is stable and will remain under observation at the hospital, local media later reported.

Tragically, Dinamo’s former midfielder Patrick Ekeng did pass away after suffering a cardiac arrest during a league game three years ago.

Neagoe has endured a tough time in charge of Dinamo since taking over from Mircea Rednic earlier this summer, with many fans calling for his dismissal.
