Malek won the Academy Award for best actor in February for playing singer Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Broccoli said Bond will not be “on active service” when at the start of the film but enjoying himself in Jamaica.

She also said the film is as yet untitled but the film is expected to hit cinemas on April 8, 2020.

Joining Craig and Malek will be Ralph Fiennes as M, Ben Whishaw as Q, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny and Jeffrey Wright as CIA agent Felix Leiter, who will reprise their roles in the series. Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch and Game Night actor Billy Magnussen join the cast alongside French actress Lea Seydoux, who co-starred in Spectre as Dr. Madeleine Swann, daughter of the mysterious Mr. White character.

It will be Daniel Craig’s fifth and final outing as 007. Craig is now the actor to have remained in the franchise the longest, outlasting Roger Moore, who held the mantle for 4,526 days over his seven sequels.
