WHO says no Ebola in Ivory Coast

New testing has found no evidence that the woman in Ivory Coast who tested positive earlier this month for Ebola actually had the virus, the World Health Organization (WHO) said. "WHO considers that the patient did not have Ebola virus disease and further analysis on the cause of her illness is ongoing," it said in a statement. The positive result was found by a lab in Ivory Coast but subsequent testing in France came back negative, WHO said. Ivory Coast Prime Minister Patrick Achi, 65, has been admitted to hospital in Paris for medical tests, two sources close to him said. The sources said Achi was being treated for "severe fatigue" suffered since his appointment in March. Achi replaced Hamed Bakayoko, who died of cancer at 56. Didier Drogba submits candidature for Ivory Coast FA’s presidency

Didier Drogba drew a large crowd on Saturday eager to watch him submit his candidacy before the deadline for next month’s Ivory Coast Football Federation elections. Ivory Coast’s prime minister Amadou Gon Coulibaly dies at 61

Amadou Gon Coulibaly, Ivory Coast's prime minister and the ruling party's candidate for an October presidential election, died on Wednesday, President Alassane Ouattara said. The death of Gon Coulibaly, 61, who had had heart surgery in 2012 and had just returned from cardiac examinations in France, is likely to set off a scramble within the ruling RHDP party to replace him as its presidential candidate. There is no clear-cut replacement for him in an election widely considered a test of stability for the world's top cocoa producer. Defence Minister Hamed Bakayoko had served as interim prime minister while Gon Coulibaly…
