The Independent asks Economy Minister Chris Cardona about ties with businessman Luke Chetcuti after a video emerged of the two discussing business over dinner. A spokesperson did not reply directly to the claims but played down the significance of the meeting.

The Malta Business Weekly reports that gaming company The Stars Group cut about 50 jobs from its Malta office and relocated some services to Bulgaria and Dublin. The company said the actions were made after a review of its cost base.

Business Today announces that works are set to begin on a roundabout linking traffic routes in St Andrew’s, Pembroke and Madliena. The paper says the new infrastructure will improve the traffic situation in the area and reduce danger.

The Times reveals that a care worker at St Vincent de Paul home has been suspended following claims that he sexually assaulted a resident. A spokesperson confirmed the incident and said that a magisterial inquiry has been launched.

L-Orizzont claims that the Cost of Living Adjustment for the coming year can go up to €4 weekly to reflect the rise in prices this year. The paper says the adjustment would be the highest in six years.

In-Nazzjon says that court employees are concerned about their working conditions after a Legal Notice issued in the Santa Marija period announced that they will be transferred to a new Agency for Court Services.

The Times reports that civil society organisation Repubblika has written to the EU Commission to examine whether Malta’s judicial appointments system breaches EU rules. The paper says that the case could end up before the European Court of Justice.

The Independent says that the Planning Authority will today decide on an American University of Malta application to develop a historic building in Cospicua’s old dock. The project was met with strong objection by residents, NGOs, and district politicians.

The Malta Business Weekly announces that games provider company OneTouch was awarded a B2B software license by the Malta Gaming Authority. The head of marketing, Ollie Castleman, described the MGA license a company ‘milestone’.

L-Orizzont says that sanctions by the US Treasury against Darren Debono, accused of involvement in fuel smuggling, may be unconstitutional because American Executive Orders cannot be applied retroactively.

Business Today says that world stocks dipped following news that the US House of Representatives launched a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump. Political uncertainty hit the markets hard which fell to a two-week low.

In-Nazzjon says that the scholastic year for state schools started yesterday, welcoming 36,000 students. Most independent and church school opened on Monday with another 25,000 students.
