The Times quotes YMCA CEO Anthony Camilleri who said the working homeless are increasing as rental prices keep rising. He said that two-thirds of residents at the shelter are today normally in full-time employment.
The Malta Independent interview Law Commissioner Franco Debono who says he does not exclude a return to politics. He said he is currently focused on his legal career but is open to running as an independent candidate.
The Times report on a court case in which an 18-year-old man stands accused of sexual abuse on his girlfriend’s mother. The defence lawyers said the teen used to scare the woman with occult rites telling her she brought the devil into her house.
The Malta Independent questions Infrastructure Malta about delays on the construction of Tal-Balal road, which was expected to be completed in December. The agency said that bad weather and unstable carriageway foundations led the works to be prolonged.
L-Orizzont quotes President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca who lent her support to the General Workers Union proposal for all workers to join unions of their choice. The President was signing a new collective agreement for the staff working at The Kitchen Garden.
In-Nazzjon quotes PN Leader Adrian Delia who said that the people have won, and government has had to pull out from the agreement with the Corinthia Group. Delia said that the withdrawal was an admission that the deal was not in the interest of the country, but of the few.
L-Orizzont speaks to Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi who said that diplomatic ties need to be strengthened in countries with touristic potential. The Minister mentioned China, India, and Latin America and called for investment in visa management.
In-Nazzjon says that Education Minister Evarist Bartolo ‘admits failure’ by the governemnt in the educational sector. The paper asked about mobile classrooms installed in schools to address overcrowding, but said the Minister would not specify a date when the situation can be expected to be resolved.
