Emirates sees pace of growth slowing

Emirates President Tim Clark said on Monday the airline’s last financial year has not been easy and that the company is not growing at its previous pace due to political tensions in the region and elsewhere.

“We’ve managed to come ahead with positive results, although it’s not as good as it has been in the past,” he said.

The company’s president said Dubai state-owned airline Emirates will report “positive” full-year results next month but they will not be as good as in previous years due to higher fuel costs and unfavourable currency moves.

Clark noted that the recent rise in oil prices had not led to a resurgence in premium travel demand and the current price of around $70 a barrel was too high, Clark said, adding he was in favor of price between $50 and $60.
