Iranian President Hassan Rouhani may cancel his appearance at the U.N. General Assembly meeting this month if the United States fails to issue visas for him and the foreign minister in the next few hours, state media said on Wednesday.

“The visits will likely be cancelled if their visas are not issued in the next few hours,” the state news agency IRNA reported.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Rouhani were both expected to attend the UN General Assembly next week. The U.S. president had entertained the idea of meeting his Iranian counterpart to try to open new talks on the 2015 nuclear deal Trump abandoned.
