Libya closes its border with Algeria over coronavirus concerns

Officials in Libya announced the closing of the border with Algeria in an effort to prevent the coronavirus form entering the country.

The manager of Libya’s Deb-deb land border with Algeria, Abdel-Fettah Al-Habib, announced the closure of the crossing out of concern for the spread of coronavirus.

Al-Habib remarked in a press statement, that the movement of all passengers and goods has ceased at the border until further notice due to lack of even basic health measures to confront the virus, particularly as a case has been reported in Algeria and other neighbouring countries.

He went on to appeal to the Libyan authorities to provide all necessary health equipment in order to implement precautionary measures, however, he also denied any case being registered amongst those entering Libya.
