Four solar farm proposals withdrawn
Four proposals for solar farm developments across Malta have been withdrawn. Over the past two years, these projects aimed to convert neglected or previously utilised land into renewable energy hubs. Several companies submitted applications, intending to collaborate with organisations already involved in solar farm projects on the island. Of the four proposals, three targeted the repurposing of disused quarries in Imqabba and Swieqi, while the fourth focused on disturbed land in Imġarr, adjacent to one of Malta’s earliest solar farms. Despite being in the earlier stages of planning, the Planning Authority received notice that all four applications had been withdrawn for reasons that were not specified. (Newsbook)
