Vitals inquiry shows Malta seized by Mafia – Grech
Nationalist Party Leader Bernard Grech stated that “every page, every paragraph, and every word written within the Vitals’ inquiry further shows how Malta has been seized by a mafia and criminal establishment.” The PN Leader said that with the publication of the inquiry, it has now been revealed that Robert Abela, while being Prime Minister, has known for three years that there is fraud. The Vitals inquiry was published Maltatoday, suggesting significant levels of evidence of corrupt practices across the board. (Maltatoday)
PM Abela blames ‘establishment’ for country’s woes
At a political event on Sunday, Prime Minister Robert Abela attacked “the establishment,” claiming that “the establishment has been trying to stop us” for years. In his speech, Abela emphasised that “we are zero-zero, no matter what the newspapers say,” and he devoted a significant portion of his speech to pushing people to vote for the Labour Party. This was seen as a reference to polls that revealed a PL lead of more than 21,000 votes. “The choice is clear. Either you continue backing this plan of work, or we let the establishment remove our focus. They want to take us where we learnt not to go, on the road of confrontation and provocation”, he insisted. (The Malta Independent)
Schembri, Mizzi planned to setup business based on taxpayer money – reports
It is believed that Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi plotted to covertly establish a business that provided pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to the Vitals and Steward hospitals only. Schembri and Mizzi, who are accused of being two of Technoline Limited’s four designated covert owners, are facing numerous accusations related to the hospital concession. Schembri, Mizzi, Hillman and Sladden are believed to have planned to secretly acquire Technoline without spending a cent of their own money. “They were to acquire 100% of Technoline using government of Malta funds fraudelently channelled via the VGH concession,” investigators probing the hospital deal said.
