Morning Briefing

Election is choice between myself and Bernard Grech – PM Abela

PM Robert Abela characterised Saturday’s European Parliament and Local Council elections as a choice between himself and Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech. Speaking at a mass rally in Victoria, Gozo, as the electoral campaign nears its end, Abela urged voters to support the PL to ensure the continuation of the government’s 2022 general election manifesto. He renewed his appeal to undecided voters, encouraging them to engage with the PL as the party seeks to mitigate potential voter abstention on Saturday. “The choice isn’t to abstain from voting. The choice is to come forward, share your concerns with us, and we will find solutions. On Saturday, you can give us a strong mandate to continue our work,” he said.

PN leader says third seat is key objective in MEP elections

Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech articulated his party’s objective for Saturday’s election: securing a third seat in the European Parliament. He noted that only one of the PL’s four MEPs was seeking re-election, suggesting that the others had “given up on doing good.” Grech insisted that the PN could enhance its efforts with a third seat, stressing that achieving this goal depends solely on the voters. “Look at what we accomplished with two MEPs; imagine our potential with three,” he said, commending Roberta Metsola’s work as European Parliament President and David Casa’s contributions as an MEP. Grech highlighted that a third seat is attainable, urging those considering not voting or experimenting with their vote to support the PN. (The Malta Independent)
