A court of law has denied a request made by the estranged wife of Opposition Leader Adrian Delia for him not to see his children. The Malta Independent reports court rejected allegations of domestic violence made by Nickie Vella de Fremeaux, allowing Delia to see his children three times a week, which this week included Christmas Day and Boxing Day.  The couple agreed in court that Delia’s access to his children should be unrestricted.

MaltaToday  reports that Adrian Delia reacted to what he called “malicious allegations circulating on social media.” He said that he would adhere to the impositions of the court by refraining from commenting publicly on the seperation to protect the interests and wellbeing of his children.”I will not in any way give in to malign intents to turn this personal issue into a political one,” he said.

The Times earlier reported that Occupy Justice in a statement said that Adrian Delia is not fit for his constitutional role as Leader of the Opposition and therefore must resign now. If he doesn’t, his party must see to it that he is fired.

Democratic Party leader Godfrey Farrugia and former PN general secretary Rosette Thake also urged Dr Delia to make an exit.

The Bishops of Malta and Gozo are urging European leaders to take ‘concrete actions’ to provide shelter and support to the migrants still stranded at sea, and not simply talk about it. Newsbook reports that their recent address expresses their concerns over yesterday’s eventual disembarkation of migrants in Spain by Proactiva Open Arms and the continuing inaction towards 32 migrants aboard the Sea Watch 3 vessel.

‘It is a source of great concern for us that instead of helping, Europe refuses to offer shelter; when doors are shut rather than opened to those on the open sea.’, their address reads.

The refusal by Malta and other European countries to take in 32 men, women and children stranded out at sea for days was a “travesty of humanity,” according to 18 human rights organisations. Shift News
