The compilation of evidence against Bojan Cmelik over the murder of Hugo Chetcuti continued today. Doctors who saw to Mr Chetcuti at Mater Dei Hospital gave their testimony, along with police officers who were present at the hospital or participated in the search for the suspect on the night of the attack.

The courts of law have ordered a ban on the publication of the names of any relatives to the boy who was abandoned in Bugibba last week, including the mother’s. In a statement, the police said the order was given by the courts. The Malta Independent

 


 

MaltaToday reports that the government’s declared target is now to manage Malta’s expectations and its economic success. The report quotes Minister Edward Scicluna during a Press Conference where he announced that the Budget for 2019 will take place on 22 October. Addressing a conference this morning as part of a pre-budget consultation process, the Finance Minister said the government’s view is that it was now “not really after a big surplus.” “A balanced budget would be satisfactory now – we don’t need a big surplus, and whatever extra revenue comes, we want to spend and redistribute,” he said.

 


 

Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana has said that rumours about her becoming the next President of the Republic are baseless. While speaking to Newsbook.com.mt, she stressed that becoming President was not part of her plans.
