It insists that the effective travel ban was a necessary evil but the toughest political, social and economic decision was yet to come – that is the mandated quarantine of households, towns and villages. The Editor calls on the public to heed the health authorities’ advice and condemns those making outrageous claims and statements, particularly involving the stereotyping of certain nationals.

The Independent takes a look at the economic impact of situation, noting positively the first set of measures announced by Government this weekend. It calls on the Opposition – who had described a number of businesses as on the verge of bankruptcy – to support Government on this important matter.

L-Orizzont praises the Authorities’ proactivity, as decisions needing to be taken are being taken at an appropriate time. While welcoming decisions supporting businesses, the Editor appeals that employees are also factored in and expresses the hope that workers do not carry the burdens of the situation on their own.
