  • Activists are organising a march against femicide next Saturday, in the wake of violent attacks on female victims these past few weeks. Maria-Lourdes Agius was found dead on Saturday with heavy bruising around her neck. Times of Malta Four women aged between 30 and 74 were brutally killed in as many months in cases of domestic violence in Malta. The latest alleged murder of a women by her partner in Paola is the fourth this year.   • The migrant rescue ship Aquarius has sailed back to international waters off Libya, the EU Observer reports, and Salvini has said that it will not be allowed to dock in Italy. The Malta Independent 

  • Attorney General Peter Grech will have to take the witness stand in the case filed by Adrian Delia over the Egrant inquiry report. Grech had objected to the list of witnesses submitted by the Opposition leader, saying they were “irrelevant” to the issue at stake. But the civil court in its constitutional jurisdiction on Monday agreed to Delia’s request to summon the AG as a witness. However, the court also said the AG could not be asked questions intended to reveal the contents of the magisterial inquiry. MaltaToday / Net News

  • Malta’s job vacancy rates in the ‘Industry and Construction’ and ‘Services’ branches decreased when compared to the same quarter of last year. Despite this, the overall Job Vacancy Rates have remained stable. Newsbook 

  • An independent board of inquiry has found that the procedures followed in a case which took place on the 24th of August, vis-a-vis the transfer of a patient from Gozo General Hospital (GGH) to Mater Dei Hospital (MDH) were in line with established normal practice and protocols. No difficulties were encountered during the transfer of the patient from GGH to MDH. The patient was only transferred to MDH once the attending physician considered that it was safe to do so. The air ambulance helicopter was available when a decision was taken that the patient needed transfer to MDH. One News

  • The Court has ordered that the victim of a traffic accident which occurred four years ago be paid 34,872.07 euro in compensation for damages he sustained, by the youth found to be responsible for causing the accident. The case goes back to 16 August 2014, when a three-vehicle collision had occurred in Naxxar. The victim, Gianluca Vassallo, who was 23 years old at the time of the accident, instituted a case in the Civil Court, asking for compensation for damages because of permanent disability and loss of employment. It emerged in Court that Samuel Mamo, who was 17 years old at the time, had taken the keys from his mother and had driven her Mitsubishi Pajero when he did not have a licence. TVM

  • Members of the European Parliament’s Civil Liberties Committee have commenced their mission to Slovakia and Malta to assess the rule of law, corruption and the safety of journalists in the two countries. Starting their visit in Slovakia on Monday, MEPs will meet journalists, NGOs and representatives of the families of murdered journalists Ján Kuciak and Daphne Caruana Galizia. Shift News
