Belgian cyclist Bjorg Lambrecht has died after crashing during the third stage of the Tour of Poland, the 22-year-old’s Lotto Soudal team announced.
Lambrecht is believed to have fallen into a concrete drain and was taken to hospital in a helicopter following the crash, which occurred around 96 kilometres from the end of the Chorzow to Zabrze stage, the BBC reported.
Lambrecht was named most promising youngster in a warm-up event before this year’s Tour de France.
