The UK is no exception to the rising concern in view of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Twelve new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in England – and some of them are part of a “family cluster”. It is the biggest jump in COVID-19cases the UK has seen in one day. Three of the new patients caught coronavirus in the UK from a man in Surrey who tested positive on Friday. They are members of his family and are all adults. One is also from Surrey and two are from West Sussex. None of them are health workers. Health officials are still trying to find out how the original Surrey patient caught the illness in the UK without having travelled abroad
The Independent reports that the UK government is refusing to rule out placing entire cities on lockdown if the UK experiences a widespread outbreak of the novel coronavirus, according to the health secretary.
Matt Hancock said he would not “take anything off the table at this stage” when asked about a Wuhan-style quarantine by BBC’s Andrew Marr on Sunday. “There’s clearly a huge economic and social downside to that but we don’t take anything off the table at this stage because you’ve got to make sure that you have all of the tools available if that is what’s necessary,” he said.
The Daily Mail reports that health chiefs have urged people aged over 60 to avoid crowds amid wide-spread coronavirus panic as an infant school worker is revealed as one of three new UK patients.
