Meanwhile, LovinMalta reports that after the court sitting one of the accused men was taken to a private hospital. George Degiorgio was seen entering the clinic handcuffed and escorted by hooded officer. Known as Iċ-Ċiniż, Degiorgio has previously criticised the conditions in prison while his lawyer said on Tuesday that his client was suffering from pain in his shoulder.

Two Germans, an American and a Panamanian have been indicted for tax fraud in Manhattan in a federal investigation into the Panama Papers scandal. The Shift News says that one of the four men is still at large but the others have been arrested. The Malta Independent says the prosecution described an “intercontinental money laundering scheme” by law firm Mossack Fonseca intent on evading U.S. laws.

Auxilliary Archbishop Mons. Joe Galea Curmi told victims of domestic violence that the cross they must carry is not their suffering but to challenge to end the abuse. Newsbook quotes the bishop in his homily during a mass in Dar Qalb ta’ Ġesù in Santa Venera.

The last group of migrants who arrived in Malta aboard the MV Aquarius have left for Germany, the government announced. One Newssays that the relocation has the backing of EU partners after Malta agreed to allow the 58 people rescued by the charity ship to disembark

The Auditor General has flagged the Arts Council after it has not submitted financial reports for the past two years. According to Net News, the NAO is concerned with the Council’s ability to recover its dues while it draws attention to the number of direct orders issued.

A 79-year-old man was hit by a car in Żabbar when the driver lost control of the vehicle. TVM reports that the victim was rushed to hospital and is in critical condition. The car was being driven by a 41-year-old resident in Marsascala.
