Malta stops all access by air and sea from Italy except for cargo

All flights to and from Italy have been stopped with immediate effect. The government’s decision was announced by PM Abela who also said that the Catamaran service between Malta and Italy will only be used to transport goods and cargo to avoid the disruption of the supply chain.

The announcement came as the country registered its fourth case, which like the preceding three also was linked to Italy.

He also announced that a cruise liner heading to Malta from Sicily was informed that it will not be allowed in Malta’s harbour.

The Prime Minister said there was no need for alarm, and that all situations were being monitored.
