Libya: Flights to and out of Misrata airport to resume on Monday

misrataairport_1.jpgFlights to and out of Misrata Airport are due to resume on Monday, May 21. All air traffic in the airport  was closed for five consecutive days and all flights were being transferred to Mitiga Airport in Tripoli.

Security staff at Misrata Airport announced on May 16 a suspension of work after an attack by outlaw groups on the customs office at the airport. The offenders looted funds that were seized by the office earlier during an attempt to smuggle them out of the country.

Misrata International Airport had returned to work on May 10 after completing the maintenance work of the runway.
