Good morning,
These are the main stories from Malta’s newspapers.
The aftermath of the storm which hit the Maltese islands last weekend is covered prominently in a number of papers’ front pages today.
The Malta Independent reports that the Civil Protection Department received over 500 emergency calls since Sunday morning. In-Nazzjon reports that the Nationalist Party is seeking ways how to mitigate the damages after the weekend’s storm. The Times reports that the trail of destruction of Sunday’s storm is likely to cost several millions of euros, according to insurance industry sources. The damage is also covered in a photo-story on L-Orizzont.
In-Nazzjon reports that the Nationalist Party wants that the recommendations of the Venice Commission are implemented with immediate effect.
L-Orizzont continues its series of investigation on equal pay for equal work. In today’s story the newspaper focuses on the pay given to janitors at schools.
In another story, the newspaper reports about a scheme announced by the Finance Minister, aimed at people serving in the disciplined corps in case any of them suffers from disability or die during while on duty.
In another story, The Malta Independent reports that the DB Group project appeal is expected to be decided this Thursday.
