President Rocco Commisso announced the news on social media: “Gennaro Gattuso will be the new head coach of Fiorentina.”
Contacted by CDE News, Viola Club Malta President Darren Micallef welcomed “with joy” the appointment of Gattuso as AC Fiorentina’s new Head Coach. “Irrespective of the clubs he managed, whether big or small, Gattuso always did his job passionately and transmitted to his players the required determination needed to perform well.”
Micallef added that “this appointment confirms the commitment that president Commisso is putting towards improving the team in order to challenge for a place in European competitions. I look forward to a summer filled with new signings to strengthen the team to Gattuso’s liking.”
The former Milan coach spent one and a half years at Napoli, leading the Partenopei to fifth in Serie A this term. As a player, Gattuso played in the Italy team that won the 2006 World Cup.
