Cyprus faces droughts amid low rainfall

Rainfall in Cyprus has reached just 67% of the normal amount since the beginning of the month, exacerbating concerns over drought conditions on the island.

According to the Department of Meteorology, total rainfall since October 1, 2023, stands at 71% of the normal level. Over the past 24 hours, only 0.2 millimetres of rain was recorded across the island.

The highest rainfall percentages have been recorded in Athienou (299%), Lythrodontas (75%), and Frenaros (67%), while many stations have reported zero rainfall.
