Malta downgraded for the first time in the Democracy Index: The Headlines – The Times

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Times reports on the results in the Democracy Index and says that Malta is the only one among 167 countries to drop from a ‘full democracy’ to a ‘flawed democracy’. It is also the first time the country has occupied this rank since the index was established in 2006.

Another report says that people from outside the police force are eligible to apply for the role of Police Commissioner. The Prime Minister will choose the candidate who will then be assessed by MPs and put to the vote in the House.
