PM says MCAST lecturers deserve best working conditions
During a visit to MCAST Freshers’ Week, Prime Minister Robert Abela expressed that MCAST lecturers deserve the best working conditions, similar to those already secured by the government for educators in State and Church schools. The college is currently in an industrial dispute with the Malta Union of Teachers, which recently issued directives after negotiations over a new collective agreement stalled. Free vaccines for influenza and Covid announced
The Health Ministry has announced that free vaccinations for the latest strains of influenza and COVID-19 will be available to everyone aged six months and over from October 21 to December 15. Senior citizens aged 65 and over are also eligible for a free pneumococcal vaccine (PCV 20), which protects against infections caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, potentially leading to chest complications and sepsis. All three vaccines will be offered at public health centres and clinics, with care home residents and those at St Vincent de Paul and Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital receiving them on-site.
