Participants in a torchlight procession in Scheveningen, The Netherlands on the evening of Saturday 28 December. The procession took place where there used to be bonfires during the Christmas tree hunt.
The tour was organized by the builders of the annual bonfire on the beach. For the first time in years, bonfires may not be organized.
At the beginning of this month, the municipality of Scheveningen announced that the bonfires could not go ahead after last year, the fires in Duindorp and Scheveningen became so large that they caused problems in The Hague and Scheveningen.
The municipality decided not to let the fires go through, because the organization did not have the correct permits and the emergency services issued a negative opinion.
