President can appoint new PM if Muscat steps down now – The Headlines – The Independent

The Independent speaks to former European Court of Human Rights Judge Giovanni Bonello about the political impasse. Bonello argues that the President is empowered to appoint a new Prime Minister is Joseph Muscat resigns now.

The paper also asks the members of the University of Malta’s rectorate why they have not signed a letter by more than 300 academics calling for Joseph Muscat’s immediate removal. Only one member replied and said that the petition did not reach her.
