These are the morning headlines.

Malta’s Newspapers are still dominated by the aftermath of Saturday’s elections.

The Times reveals that members of the Nationalist Party Council are collecting signatures to push a confidence vote in leader Adrian Delia. The Council is the highest organ within the party and 150 signatures from 1,300 members are required to trigger a Council meeting.

The Malta Independent says that the margin between the PL and the PN in the MEP election stands at 42,000 after official counting ended. Early indications suggested that PL’s majority would rise to 51,000.

In-Nazzjon says that the Prime Minister’s claim on Sunday that Labour’s electoral victory is greater that the one registered by Paul Boffa is not true. The paper notes that gap in votes is 9,000 less than that originally reported by PBS and One.

The Malta Independent reveals that Partit Demokratiku and Alternattiva Demokratika explored coalition options before the EP election. PD Leader Godfrey Farrugia says that the party is interested in forming a broader entity with others.

L-Orizzont says that Imperium Europa became the third biggest political party in Malta, with leader Norman Lowell receiving more votes in the EP elections than the PD and AD combined.

In-Nazzjon publishes a joint message by PN MEPs Roberta Metsola and David Casa who said that the EP election results is a clear message that the electorate wants to continue the fight to defend rule of law in Malta.

L-Orizzont says that the re-election of MEP David Casa shows that former PN leader Simon Busuttil is still popular among party supporters. The paper says that Casa is aligned with a Busuttil faction against a Delia faction.

In-Nazzjon quotes PN leader Adrian Delia who called for people to join the party and become part of ‘the change that the country needs.’ Delia thanked all candidates for their efforts in the campaign.

The Times reports that a one-year-old girl suffered serious injuries when she fell off the balcony in her home on Sunday. She is not in critical condition but sustained serious head injuries.

At least 18 people were injured on a residential street in Kawasaki. Two of them are dead, an elementary school girl and a 39-year-old man. A suspect, a man in his 50s, reportedly stabbed himself in the neck and was later detained. He has now also died from his injuries. – Read More
